The Old Greenwood Natural Resource Management Center (NRMC) has been recognized as a leader in energy efficiency by Flex Your Power, a campaign throughout the State of California that brings together government agencies, utilities, businesses and residents to promote energy saving techniques. The NRMC saves over 50,000 gallons of water each year, utilizing such features as waterless urinals, water-efficient landscaping, a drip irrigation system fed by rainwater capture ponds, and recycled water for golf course irrigation and vehicle wash facilities. Annual electricity savings of 20,000 kWh are achieved with the use of energy-efficient lighting and furnaces, dual-pane windows, and a free cooling economizer. The facility’s design performance exceeds both California Energy Code and Title 24 standards by 26%.
