At Issue
The Owner wanted to create a fire fighter training facility that would allow fire fighting and rescue simulation in a harsh winter environment. Set at 9,200 feet above sea level near Breckenridge, Colorado, the facility consists of an equipment storage building and a three story "burn building" surrounded by a paved staging platform. BGCE's challenge was to design a heating system that would allow the training area to be used year round in all weather conditions without water used in simulation drills forming dangerous ice on the platform

BGCE's Work
Design of a hydronic heating system for the staging platform that prevents ice from forming in temperatures down to -30 degrees F.

Client Benefits
A unique and safe training environment for fire fighter and rescue personnel.
