At Issue
Beaudin Ganze Consulting Engineers, Inc. was challenged by Vail Orthopedics and Fritzlen Pierce Architects to design their new MRI suite in the garden level of a new retail building.

BGCE's Work
- Close collaboration with the Architect, the Contractor, and Philips, the MRI design/build company, to facilitate the installation of the new MRI equipment
- Design of the heating and cooling systems to fit within a restricted floor-to-floor height to allow maximum ceiling height to "open up" the garden level space
- The cost-effective mechanical systems were strategically located to allow proper conditioning of the space such that sections could be left out to allow the tall magnet to be installed in the rear of the space. In doing so, the Contractor was able to finalize his installation of the mechanical and electrical systems and beat the project schedule
- The electrical systems were designed to allow full protection of the expensive MRI equipment
- Additional transformers were set to allow optimum use of the MRI and x-ray equipment in the retail building

Client Benefits
- The construction was finished ahead of schedule and on budget, allowing Vail Orthopedics to open its doors to its new office space, on time and on track
- Vail Orthopedics now has a high-end space that addresses its patients' medical needs as well as patient comfort
