At Issue
BGCE was approached by the Town of Vail and Kirk Aker, Architect to design a cost-effective and reliable snowmelting system for the town's busy busing center and the pedestrian plaza between the transportation center and Vail's trademark Covered Bridge.

BGCE's Work
An effective snowmelt system was designed to eliminate ice and snow in a heavily staired, pedestrian area used by thousands of boot-clad visitors each day during the ski season.
Working within the constraints of the existing parking structure where parking spaces are highly valued, BGCE designed a heating plant and distribution system which utilizes only two spaces and a dead corner.

Client Benefits
- BGCE's design allowed the installation to be staged in order to keep the transportation center operational throughout construction
- Reduced snow removal costs
- Safer pedestrian plaza
