Edwards Station

  Project:   Commercial Complex
Owner: East West Partners
Client: TAB Associates, Inc.
Location: Edwards, Colorado

At Issue

East West Partners and TAB Associates approached Beaudin Ganze Consulting Engineers, Inc. to design the feature buildings at the Edwards Interstate exchange. These buildings included the new corporate headquarters for Colorado Mountain Express and the Texaco/Wendy's commercial complex.

BGCE's Work

  • An efficient and cost-effective HVAC system was designed for the long and slender CME building. Due to the dramatic northern and southern exposures, a furnace and variable volume/variable temperature control system was split between these two exposures.

  • A new conveyor car wash system was coordinated with the equipment vendor and installed. This was the first of its kind in the Vail Valley. Also included were the CME service areas for vehicle maintenance and washing, as well as an open-to-the public portion of operations.

  • The Texaco/Wendy's system design was reviewed and upgraded to meet the high-altitude, mountain-climate conditions.

  • The exterior/side lighting was designed and coordinated with the strict regulations being enforced by the Singletree housing development.

Client Benefits

  • The system was designed to allow partial demolition of the existing structures such that new construction could continue while the facility remained operational to maintain cash flow.

  • The mechanical and electrical systems were coordinated into the architecture to eliminate these systems from view in the high profile area.

  • The exterior/side lighting was well received by the Singletree housing development and impacts were minimized.

  • Employee housing units were incorporated into the base structure of the Texaco/Wendy's to meet county regulations.
