At Issue
Colorado Springs Utilities (CSU) has embarked on the "Center Development Project," which will provide an icon for its mission of environmental and energy conservation. The building will provide a trademark for CSU as a high-performance, forward-looking, energy-conservation-oriented utility provider for the Pikes Peak Region.

BGCE's Work
BGCE is providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing and lighting engineering design and construction administration services for this remodel and addition, as well as LEED certification consulting. The Center will be a "living building" demonstrating state-of-the-art HVAC, electrical, and lighting systems and renewable energy strategies.

Client Benefits
The Center program includes temporary offices, an exhibit hall, presentation, classroom and resource library spaces. Also planned is the "Energy House," a life-size model of a traditional home demonstrating to residential customers how their homes can respond easily to money-saving energy conservation and xeriscaping strategies. The Center will also offer hard hat tours and exhibits describing the "green building" construction in process. The Center's site will complement the building's energy conservation strategies to highlight the critical importance of the conservation and wise use of precious water resources.
