At Issue
This new office building in Fort Collins' Oakridge Business Park is home to two design firms - BHA Design, Inc. and John Dengler Architects, P.C. Their new home serves as a model for what other builders can do to incorporate the latest in energy-saving and environmentally sound building practices in their projects. The building has achieved LEED Certification.
Special energy-saving strategies include:
- HVAC systems that will save one-fifth of the energy consumed by a conventional building
- Natural daylighting and dark sky artificial lighting to reduce light pollution
- Waterless urinals for water conservation
- Operable windows for climate control
- Preferred parking for hybrid vehicles
- "Fat Tire" bikes for communal use on short distance errands
