BGCE Engineers Earn Certification Required by GSA
2/8/06 — Denver, Colorado - Michael T. Reed, P.E., LC, LEED AP and Tia L. Nord, LC, LEED AP have passed the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions (NCQLP) Exam for Lighting Certification. The NCQLP is a non-profit organization committed to providing the public with lighting practices that are both effective and efficient. The Lighting Certification (LC) exam was developed by the NCQLP to help qualified lighting professionals demonstrate their knowledge, experience and ability to apply lighting principles and techniques with success.
Last year the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) added the NCQLP lighting designer certification into its Facilities Standards for Public Buildings Service. GSA noted that in their qualifications for choosing a lighting practitioner, only those LC certified shall perform and/or supervise the lighting design for their facilities. With this in mind, Mr. Reed and Ms. Nord set forth to gain this certification.
Mr. Reed is an Electrical Project Manager in BGCE's Denver office, with over fifteen years of experience in the design of lighting, power, special systems and life safety systems. His resume includes a variety of government and higher education projects throughout the State of Colorado, as well as experience with multi-family, commercial office space, and entertainment facilities. Ms. Nord, also based in BGCE's Denver office, is the firm's Lighting Designer, using her experience in both lighting engineering and interior design to provide intelligent lighting solutions that correlate with owner and client design aesthetics. With years of experience in hospitality, commercial and residential lighting design, Ms. Nord's expertise in the field truly renders the difference between a building and thoughtful, elegant architecture.
